QUALIFICATIONS :

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years previous retail experience
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • Able to operate POS Cash Register
  • Able to schedule and supervise employees
  • Must hold a valid Drivers License and be able to show proof of insurance
  • Must pass a background check which will include Criminal History and Sex Offender Registry
  • Able to communicate effectively with management, employees, customers, and donors

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Takes an active role and partners with the Store Manger in day-to-day operations of the Store.
  • Assumes responsibility for all day-to-day operations in the absence of the Store Manager.
  • Provides coaching, training, and development to the Store employees.
  • Ensures customer and donor needs are met by maintaining good customer / donor / community relations, complaints are resolved, and service is quick and efficient.
  • In the absence of the Store Manager, coordinate any shift change or team meetings.
  • Supervise employees in performance of duties to ensure compliance with published directives and guidelines.
  • Provide training for new personnel on store policies and procedures of The Salvation Army.
  • In the absence of the Store Manager communicate any personnel issues to the Corps Officer.
  • Completes all tasks as assigned by the Store Manager, Corps Officer, or other designate.
  • Responsible for processing of paperwork as assigned, including any time and attendance notifications.
  • Ensures Store merchandising standards are maintained, adequate inventories are on hand, rag outs are completed in a timely fashion, and Store is clean, neat, and organized.
  • Responsible in Store Managers absence to maintain adequate amount of change for each day, adherence to cash handling and safe policies, and banking of cash receipts daily.
  • Attends Store meetings.

All hazards are to be reported to the Store Manager and Corps Officers.

  • Responsible for the protection of the customers, employees, property, and building.
  • Implementation of appropriate loss prevention measures.
  • Other written and verbal duties as may be assigned by the Store Manager, Corps Officers, or designate.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :

  • Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis.
  • Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, clothing carts, merchandise carts, rolling clothing racks, fixtures, furniture dollies, platform trucks and carts, hand trucks and miscellaneous carts.
  • Ability to operate a telephone.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to perform various repetitive motion tasks.

MISCELLANEOUS :

It is expected that each employee will be familiar with The Salvation Army Western Territory Employee Handbook and supportive of the Mission Statement.

Must hold a valid drivers license, be able to show proof of insurance and have access to a motor vehicle. All drivers must complete and pass an annual Motor Vehicle Check and The Salvation Armys driver safety course.

The Salvation Army has a dress code which will be shared with you at the time of employment.
